Where did Desmond go? (Or things that are different in 2004)

When Desmond ditched his girlfriend, he ended up being picked up by Brother Campbell. I have long suspected that Campbell pulled Desmond into the the monastery to put him on the necessary course. It seems to me that Desmond was isolated many times by Campbell, Hawking, and Widmore in an effort to control his choices and to make sure he followed through with their needs. This may have begun by ensuring he never married Ruth. In the X Reality, the island was, of course, long gone, so the manipulation of Desmond never occurred.

... And Widmore and Ruth never exist in Desmond's life. The meeting with Jack in the stadium never took placed.

I'm toying with the idea that James Ford might be a cop in X reality. I was thinking that this James Ford may never have been given the pen by Jacob which sealed his fate. And Kate loved a cop and a doctor in the reality that we have come to know so well. Anyway, just floating it out there. Yes, he saw her in cuffs, and had no reason to protect her, but he may not be a completely by-the-book-cop. And, speaking of protecting Kate, I love the irony of that considering he's the one who outed her to everyone on the island.

Desmond did have a ring right?


I hope we see more of him and get the explanation on why he is so special, why rules don't apply to him.

My sis had an idea that maybe Daniel thinks the rules don't apply to Desmond because Daniel encountered Desmond in the future (beyond 2007). That Daniel traveled there at some point maybe during his experimenting (he did tell Widmore that he tried his equipment on himself). So that Daniel always knew there was a future for Desmond that he could depend on. His constant.

One thing I do have to say about Jacks oxycontin addiction/abuse......he was hitting it HARD! The fact that he decided to stop, shave his beard and be done with it is a bunch of bushleaguehorsepuckynonsense!

Yes I'm bitter about it, and yes if you read between the lines I have issues about it......

Yeah, I think that rather than watch Jack go do 30 days of rehab first, they just fudged over it.

He wanted to be clean when returning, he can't be Jack if he is on drugs over there. Would be funny though if he was a pain in the ass in the 70's and yeling at Sawyer.

Maybe the island cleaned him when they flashed? I'm not seeing it as a problem :P

I kinda thought that when Jack saved Charlie, things on the plane seemed to change. It wasn't unti after Charlie was saved that Desmond disappeared, right? I thought that perhaps when Locke got on the plane he could walk, but then when Jack saved Charlie, Locke couldn't walk. It also wasn't until after he saved Charlie that he saw the cut on his neck, right?

I dunno.

Jack's cut was just before he sat down next to Desmond and Jack noticed he was gone after bumping into Kate. Then he saved Charlie.
